Mark Beach has done us all a service by publishing an introduction to Calvin's Institutes -- Piety's Wisdom.I have to confess that my first encounter with Calvin's magnum opus proved a difficult one. Calvin's logic was not mine at the time, and I have discovered over the past thirty years that I was not alone. Since then Calvin's thinking has shaped mine more than I have time to tell here, but I am delighted that Mark Beach as published this volume. It is outstanding in every way and anyone remotely interested in discovering more from Calvin's Institutes should avail themselves of this book immediately.
