Grimshaw of Haworth
Posted by
Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters, was also home, some seventy years earlier, to one of the great men of the eighteenth century evangelical revival in Britain: William Grimshaw of Haworth. J.C. Ryle regarded him, along with John Wesley and George Whitefield, as one of the three greatest men in England at the time. I have written on him at my blog, because the three hundredth anniversary of his birth falls tomorrow, 14 September 2008. The current biography by Faith Cook is a wonderful read. The righteous deserve to be held in everlasting remembrance.
