Death of Cardinal Martini
Posted by
When teaching at Nottingham University, I had a colleague who was a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame, an educational order in the RCC. I remember her telling me that Cardinal Martini would one day be Pope. It never happened as he apparently died yesterday but not before he launched a major attack on his church earlier this summer. Italian accounts can be found here, with English translation of some of the material presumably forthcoming here.
Whether the papacy of Benedict XVI will be shaken or merely stirred by the criticisms of a ranking liberal voice within the church remains to be seen.
