Orwell unconvincing?
Posted by
A Scottish reader sent me this link yesterday in the wake of my exchange with PR. I am sure Phil will be flattered by the comparison with Eliot; and, as a lifelong fan and admirer of Orwell's prose, politics, and prophetic pessimism, I am not worthy (and, as an aside, for Eliot to think him a Trostkyite betrays utter ignorance of Orwell's other work, and its reception -- or rather rejection, by Marxists) ; but it's also a reminder that notions such as unhelpfulness are too parochial to be used to stifle free speech and criticism of the received wisdom of the establishment, evangelical and otherwise: here.
And on a lighter note, I always knew that Led Zeppelin were useful for more than taking rock-blues music to the next level (and beyond), so to speak. They are now being used to ward off plagues of biblical proportions: here.
