Phillies Phan Phatigue

Disclaimer: I'm not into sports. I first learned the Phillies were even in the World Series on Sunday. No kidding. Nevertheless . . .

Just thought I'd send a friendly note out to all of those fans of other (loser) teams. Don't begrudge Philadelphia, it has been a long time, at least that's what my students tell me, since the Phillies won the World Series and even a long time since, again my source here is students--and they have been wrong before, Philadelphia has won any title.

All I know is my students were (more) bleary-eyed (than usual) for my 7:30 class. Apparently they were out buying t-shirts commemorating the occasion. Sports equipment stores around Philadelphia reopened after the game to sell t-shirts.

Why that's as American as, well, baseball and selling t-shirts.

Hey, Sean, can you, you Cards fan you, find it in yourself to speak a word of praise for the Phillies? After all, this city was your home for those many years.
