With All Due Respect . . .

The problem with moral outrage in our present context is that the outrage has a hard time locating its proper antecedent, given the apparent loss of the moral. What you end up with is very real outrage pointed in the wrong direction.

Take for instance the good Rev. Von Ribbentrop's (B. Ribb to her friends) recent diatribe against Trueman's hypocrisy. Her outrage seems sincere; it's just that she misidentified the source.

It's not so much the revelation that Trueman comes out against women's ordination, all the while enjoying the likes of Pat Benatar, Heart, and the Bengals (just conjecture on the last one). The startling revelation is that apparently TRUEMAN OWNS AN IPOD!  

Dear sister, I feel your pain.
